Email Alias Rules for Gmail, Yahoo Mail, and Outlook:
  • Gmail Alias Rules:
    1. + Alias: Gmail supports adding "+" and text after the username as an alias, e.g., [email protected]. All emails will still be delivered to the original address.
    2. Ignore Dots: Gmail ignores all dots in the username, e.g., [email protected] and [email protected] are considered the same mailbox.
    3. Domain: Gmail supports both @gmail.com and @googlemail.com, which are treated as the same mailbox.
  • Yahoo Mail Alias Rules:
    1. - Alias: Yahoo supports adding "-" and text after the username as an alias, e.g., [email protected]. Emails are delivered to the original address.
    2. Dots Matter: Yahoo does not ignore dots in the username, e.g., [email protected] and [email protected] are different mailboxes.
    3. Domain: Yahoo supports multiple country domains including @yahoo.com, @yahoo.co.uk, @yahoo.com.tw, etc. Different domain mailboxes are independent, e.g., [email protected] and [email protected] are different mailboxes and cannot communicate with each other.
  • Outlook Alias Rules:
    1. No + Alias: Outlook does not support "+" aliases after the username. For example, [email protected] is not a valid format in Outlook.
    2. Dots Matter: Outlook does not ignore dots in the username, e.g., [email protected] and [email protected] are different mailboxes.
    3. Domain: Outlook supports @outlook.com, @hotmail.com, and @live.com, but addresses from different domains must be set up as official aliases to share the same mailbox.
